Math is one of those subjects that is easy for some and hard for many. It is especially difficult when the lessons are quick and not much time is devoted to deeper explanations of harder abstract concepts.

I have been teaching basic foundational math classes for the past six years to students who struggle with retaining numerical values. The needs of the students ranged from a simple lack of focus to a more severe diagnosis of dyscalculia. Using interactive media and hands on learning modes, I was able to teach abstract concepts using creative and interactive visuals. This exposed the students to new and helpful ways of looking at math.

I now offer dyslexia students with an easy and fun way to memorize their multiplication facts through a 12 week course called, My Multiplication Magic. The course was developed by a dyslexia consultant, Sue Bridgman, who is also a certified Barton Tutor and has done research on how the dyslexia mind and math can work together. Please let me know if you are interested in signing your student up for this specific course.

Since math tutoring can take many forms and depends on your student's needs, the following are options for the different types of math support I offer:

  1. Minimal Support: My student does fairly well in class, but struggles to take what he learned in class and apply it to his homework. Extra support on HW is needed.

  2. Partial Support: My student struggles to grasp the concepts and needs lessons retaught, as well as review on foundational concepts.

  3. Full Support: My student greatly struggles in every lesson. He needs lots of review on foundational concepts. His numbers are jumbled and hard to read. He makes simple mistakes and gets easily lost in the steps of a problem. Lots of support is needed.
